Retrofit middle armrest

Hello, everybody. I've got a question.

In my V8 there is no middle armrest as standard, but would like one. Before I go and get one, I'd have a question;

If no MAL is provided as standard, is it even possible to retrofit one?

Knows that it is then screwed through a hole in the cover to the driver's seat. Would you have to cut that in?
