Moin,
I have just seen an adapter on the page - www.motor-chiptuning.com - with the help of which you can read out everything possible e.g. Error memory, etc.
Here are the details of the company:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diagnostic tool with the new software VAGCOM
In the past everything was easier, a look under the hood and experienced mechanics knew where to look for the mistake.
Nowadays, this type of error detection is hardly possible! A modern workshop must be able to diagnose the electronic control systems, which are becoming more and more complex in terms of environmental compatibility and safety, safely and precisely. And that is impossible without suitable diagnostic aids.
And this is exactly what the DIAGNOSETOOL from MFT helps!
With a PC / Labtop and our diagnostic tool, you can use all diagnostic vehicles from VW in conjunction with the new software VAGCOM. check the diagnostic interface*. The function options according to those of the original VAG 1552 test device respectively. are still around some useful details such as the graphical evaluation of the measurement blocks is extended. (from V1.0)
Excerpt of the multi-vendor functions: binding setup with all electronic control units*, respective query of the error memory incl. their deletion, measurement block queries, as a block of 4 or in an overall overview, oil service and inspection interval provision incl. Reprogramming, basic settings (e.g. Idling), adaptations (e.g. e-gas throttle valves ADP), actuator analysis (test run), activation of GRA ́s at TDIs, WFS key programming, ECUs adaptation to different types of control units. ==References== Special equipment designs and much more.
Additional program features: Error report not only with numbers codes, but also in plain text, display of measured values numerically and graphically (from V 1.0) (e.g. Speed, charge pressure, ignition time, suction pipe temp. Engine temperature, Lambda value, etc.), user-friendly operation by mouse, planned featuers: storage of the measurement value block data for subsequent analysis.
Interface Key data: Modern circuit layout, fully electronic polarity protection (with the K version by means of fuse), function control of the interface by LED ́s, impact-resistant plastic housing, future-proof by OBD II standard.
Attention! The use of the tool is only for experienced and experienced hobby screwdrivers. Workshops suitable. Background knowledge as well as a repair guide from the manufacturer is absolutely necessary! The diagnostic tool is a tool, not a repair instruction!
The diagnostic tool is available in two versions. For users who only want to edit newer vehicles, i.e. those that want the 16 pole. OBD II plug already installed, the diagnostic tool K is sufficient. All the in addition also the older vehicles with the 2x2 pole. If you want to diagnose plugs, the diagnostic tool in the K+L version is required, as many of the older ECUs need the L line.
In the case of older vehicles, an adapter is required. This is included in the K+L version in professional design.
System requirements: PC from Pentium with W 95/98 and RS 232 interface
Scope of supply: Special interface depending on version K or K+L, 1 single place license of the VAGCOM software on diskette 3.5 inch as beta version 0.78b in engl. ==References== German error code file.
Additionally included: Free updates to the upcoming full version 1.0, the German language version and update updates below version 1.0, as well as limited technical support via e-mail, hotline and Internet forum. Updates via independent download of the file in the download pages.

Well, sounds good, but would I like to know if anyone has done anything in this direction?
Ciao Jörg

Das Ding kostet etwa DM 600. Lohnt sich also kaum für den
Privatgebrauch.

Hallo Marco!

Danke Erich
