What do you think of this...?
I had the idea, as with my motorcycle on the drain screw, to insert a chip catch on my V8, which takes out ferro-magnetic metal chips from the oil.
For this purpose I had thought about setting strong neodymium magnetic strips below to the oil filter cartridges, which bind the chips (also and especially the finest ones, which are only microns large and come through the oil filter). with each filter exchange the collected works fly to the garbage, the magnets simply to the next cartridge..
I know that there is already, but for expensive money, I had bought small 6 mm wide neodymium strips with temperature resistance 150 degrees and adhesion capacity 1.7kg and placed them around the cartridge of my second car.
I wanted to drive a thousand kilometers, just screw out the cartridge, and carefully saw it up and see what's been gathering.
I know from a colleague who works in aircraft construction, who are such a magnetic catcher standard in aircraft engines and are first seen in engine visibility to draw conclusions on wear and tear behaviour.
Now the V8 engine is not an airplane engine, but I thought what about abrasion / metal is not in oil, can the lifespan only be beneficial?!
For my test, the test material, the 25 mm long strips have now been nickel-plated in 1,- Euro / costed..so 5,- Euro for the 5 pcs. In the test car..
I'll put on a picture.
What's your opinion?
Greetings Hans
