If someone wants to determine the color temperature of a Xenon burner, perhaps because different burners were installed for some reason, I recommend the following procedure:
1. Take a photo with a DSLR (digital SLR camera, here Nikon D80) directly into the headlight or slightly angled. Protect your eye! The camera is clear with the light intensity and exposes approx. 1/1000s.
2. Save data as raw and not as jpeg
3. Download UFRaw
4. Set the color temperature slider so that the headlight color is white.
5. For comparison use normal filament lamp (e.g. Daytime running light). Color temperature should be 2600K here to make the wire of the spiral appear white.
Certainly this is only an approximate detection of the color temperature of the burner. But on thousands of steps, it is always accurate enough.
Best regards
Jost.
