Since the end of November 2002 I also drive a V8 with the 3.6 liter machine.
I have to say - this is really a very pleasant driving (after at least 12 years of age of the vehicle).
And besides, it's a lot of fun - if you have to

I don't think you can give yourself any illusions:
Everything gets older and makes a bitch - and that's how it is with the V8.
After all, it has only been assembled and not conjured.
When I drove my V8 test, everything was fine and on my way home (approx. 300km) did not switch the automatic and drove forever in the third gear (i.e. the emergency running program).
Turn the engine off and on again, the problem was gone.
I brought the car to my workshop (Meyer in Beckdorf near Buxtehude) and wrote some points to them (from the forum).
But since the V8 base was still a good mechanic and a good master, they preferred to look for themselves and also found the mistake (have left the car there for a few hours).
It was the engine control unit!
The next day, one of them had built in and I could drive around for a week.
So I had enough time to get a cheaper one (new price 770 Euro - used around 50-100 Euro) - there is fortunately still enough.
So - I don't work in the workshop and I don't have an intimate relationship with it, but if someone is so uncomplicated and competent (and you get remuttered) then that's worth a recommendation.
Now he purrs and grumbles again.
(Well almost - as I said - you always have a little something with it.)
But buy other cars for the price - also much younger and then probably smaller - this is simply luxury class!
He has a slightly wavelike acceleration and sometimes a somewhat unround idling.
According to the repair instructions (requires recommended) this would have to be the lambda probe and good.
Then there's the cruise control that doesn't want to go yet and the seat heating on the driver's side and on the back seat and I'm happy.
But I am.
The difference between A4 and V8 is so enormous that you can forgive some mistakes.
Welcome
