Yesterday I was near Remchingen, at www.mangold-dry ice.de"To CO2 rays.
I was there with my white one. I wanted to do the engine compartment superficially, then the door bars above all and hold a few more corners and edges. I also had my five mother-of-pearl BBS and five silver BBS. Otherwise, there was a single 15th Alufelge. My three best engine covers and a few other small parts were also invited.
Actually, I wanted to be there at 2:00, it didn't work out. So at 3:30 p.m. I was there. I got a cover in the device, plus gloves, ear protectors, and goggles. At the end of the whole thing was then after 6 pm.
I started with the mother-of-pearl wheels. They've been beamed before... But I was a little too stingy to get a clean job. So I worked all the corners and edges again. On a rim the clear varnish / brake dust inside did not go down any more, which is not visible from outside. The outside is now top of mine. With the silver ones there was more dirt on it, especially inside and also in the cross spoke edges. But it went really well and especially the inner area became like new. Of course, the small stone strokes or infiltration does not disappear, but the brake dust and loose clear varnish is gone. What always bothers me is when the weights are glued on outside. You can't get rid of them without a scratch. With the ice rays the ratzfatz flew away.
Then there was a less aggressive nozzle to work on the vehicle. I blew away the dirt that was so stuck in the doorway, e.g. also the old black fat of the door belts. White looks bad when it's all over. Loser varnish and rust, which my white has unfortunately, flew away with it. The aluminum strips at the bottom were also quite good, you have to be a little careful with plastics or. Cable in the engine compartment. You can't hold on too hard to get material out of there.
The engine covers etc. went quite fast and now look acceptable again.
In terms of cost, it shocked me a little... Alone for 125 euros ice. The total cost was then 330 euros. It is and remains a technically complex thing.
My conclusion. It is worth it for parts that are otherwise not clean. With the rims I already tried a lot from high pressure cleaner to oven cleaner to various rim cleaners. Even corners and edges on the vehicle, where there is bad access, are very good with the ice blasting.
The next action of this kind will probably be my silver one. As far as it is cleaned out, however, there are still a lot of adhesive residues from the dams and then a large part of the bitumen mats. I'll try to get rid of them, the rest of them will be smashed. I'll think about whether I'll make the underbody even easier.
It was definitely an interesting experience and Markus Mangold (had a 200 20v Avant until recently) was satisfied with my work!
