the purchase help on the start page of this forum refers to the Audi V8 and does not help me to clarify some questions at first. Through the search function, I have already been able to clarify a few questions that move me up-to-date, but some remain open. I therefore ask for your advice:
I drive about 20,000 - 25,000 km a year, 80% of which is certainly urban traffic. I use a Smart ForTwo Convertible for this, which is not particularly well suited as a long-distance and holiday vehicle. I own a VW Phaeton, which was leased as a new car for these routes, but has not yet run 30,000 km after 2.5 years. Now the lease contract of the Phaeton expires in the foreseeable future and the question of a successor arises to me therefore relatively promptly.
Economically, the lease of a luxury-class vehicle is no longer useful for me. I am therefore considering acquiring a second-hand vehicle that meets the following requirement profile to use it as a long-distance vehicle in the private sector over the next five years:

- Safe (ABS/ESP/Airbags front, side and head are required)
- Long-distance

- Automatic transmission
- timeless elegant, not eye-catching design
- high quality interior equipment (leather black) and workmanship quality
- Cultivated drive (no diesel)
- Purchase only from absolutely serious pre-owned or from the serious dealer
I have considered the A8 D2 as 3.7 liter or 4.2 liter model (each as Quattro).
Question 1: Can you recommend these vehicles to me based on your experience?
Question 2: Do I find a type-specific check list for the purchase somewhere?
Question 3: Do you think of alternatives?
