The following "problem" got me with my new growth. Drive the A8 now for almost 2 weeks through the area and my father wanted to get to know it very much :-) Driven there, had lunch and then he wanted to do a test drive. So I got in, engine on, but jumped right back out. Try again, on - straight out again. The display also seemed suspiciously dark... means: I didn't have to see a floodlight and below the KM / daykm display and clock was simply dead. At first I thought immobilizer or something, but the symbol did not shine and also the key went by radio etc. clean up.
Then I went over the fuse box in the front: everybody out, checked and back in. I was just looking at the back and waving bits. Ignition on, the red displays down both back - bubs ran the ship again. Time / date was zero, the rest ok. Since then (3 days ago) everything has been fine and no problems.
Is it really possible that there was just a contact "loose"?
Anyway, since then, the letters of the automatic on the display have been completely red (is not average consumption, I took a picture at the traffic light and had to start driving).
):The guide says something about emergency program, but it's definitely not what the manual says:
- He doesn't drive funny, slow / switches differently
- He's going to the 5th. Gang (and not as described for emergency program only up to the 4th)
- I can use the Tiptronic (which is supposedly not possible in the emergency program)
When reading the bugs last week, he spat out something (I had already done this with the red letters, after he had started a little bad - but engine off, engine on with easy start, everything again "ok") -> There was something because of "choice lever switch" and "setting" can not be found. The workshop said that some control unit probably cannot find / define the position of the automatic control lever. It was called "watching." Can only go there again in the first week of January and they said: On vacation (300 km) is no problem, we look at that later.
Was meint Ihr dazu?
And: Can I use any key combination / ignition etc. the error code and/or delete all and see if the error comes back? Have the feeling that it is now permanently glowing even if there is no mistake?

P.S.: Also quattro etc. last night on the motorway with completely snowed-on road worked wonderfully. (not only) For such journeys a dream of car - that's why I bought it - next to the perfect highway journeys.
