I have bought a very neglected 4.2 V8 as a donor car for mine. It has security stickers on the windows, but nothing obvious about whether there is actually an alarm system fitted.

SO. Questions
where are the components normally fitted?
Can they be retrofitted into an earlier car (just out of curiosity). eg, is the wiring an add in loom, or was it integral as standard?

If it is an Conlog system, scrap it.
Because it is the reason of many malfunction,
like no engine starting.

I guess it's the default alarm system, no Conlog.

@Mark: When you lock your PT, du you hear a short buzzer signal from the rear? If yes, you already have the original alarm system installed. I always thought that _all_ V8 have the alarm system installed.

On my old V8, there is no buzz, or sound.
On the new V8, there is a sound like a horn being powered for a very short time. I found out tonight that there is an alarm on the newer V8- it went off when I opened the boot.
So that answers that part.

In the upcoming strip of that car, I shall make notes of what is where, and see if anything matches up with the old car.

Uhm guys, maybe the alarm system was an extra equipment when ordering a "standard" model and the "V8 exclusive" models had it on board by default?

Maybe we should consult Kai E., our walking dictionary concerning sales information on the V8
