1990 3.6, car

While it's all in bits, I'm getting all the other little jobs done.

The exhaust is off completely, so access to the gearbox is easy.
I want to drop the sump(?) and clean the filter, check for debris. as mentioned by a few other posters.

Is this straightforward?
Are there any little problems or things to look out for?

Working space will be limited. Basically just enough room for me. The car is currently on Axle stands.

Issues with the box-
There is no gear display. Either on the Dash or by the gear selector.
The 3 position switch does not always return to econ when starting.

Otherwise, all seems fine. The oil that I drained didn't appear to be overly blackened or contaminated. It seemed fairly reddish in colour once drained. About 4 litres or so came out.

Hi,

the filter should be replaced. Don't forget to clean the magnets in the sump, that's even more important than the filter. Replace the sump gasket as well.

Everything else should be straight forward - oil away, new filter, cleaning, assembly, CORRECT refilll. Do you know how to refill properly? It's a tricky. You'll need an ATF dipstick as well (is missing, I guess).

ATF dipstick, listed as cheap, and back order, here.
I checked the transmission the other day when a chap came to buy some bits off the dying V8. He had a tranny dipstick.

So, any of you good folk have one for sale? Or could provide the dimensions so that i can make one?

Someone must be able to provide the dimensions of the dipstick for the auto transmission in my 1990 (formerly PT) V8.

Length
diameter
low and high dimensions.

I can probably make one, or adapt one if I know what these are.
The genuine article is Back Order currently.
