if I want to get a used A8 (so from year Bj. 97) and the display says "Automatics", does it have the Tiptronic or is there also a "pure automatic"?

nur die ersten Jahrgänge hatten in der 2.8 und 3.7 (ohne quattro) Ausführung eine Automatik ohne Tiptronic. Die 4.2er hatten immer eine. Also kannst Du davon ausgehen - sowieso ab Bj. '97 - dass Automatik auch Tiptronic beinhaltet.

Ja. Der A8 4,2 war in D ausschliesslich mit Tiptronic erhältlich (im Ausland auch mit normaler Automatik), der 3,7er hatte ebenfalls Tiptronic. Nur die 2,8l-Version war Anfangs wahlweise mit Gangschaltung oder normaler Automatik erhältlich.
