Hello, everybody.
I was just in the process of changing the cylinder head gasket of the right bank (in the direction of travel) with my mechanics when we were in the 4th. Cylinder (next to the passenger cell) a worrying rift has been noticed. At the cylinder head are also a few "stroke points" of metal parts to be seen. Now let us first remove the piston to search for the cause. Can this actually be done without lifting the complete engine out of the vehicle? The oil pan top alone is already problematic in some places. And if the piston was outside, do the screws have to be replaced?
Does anyone have an idea, a tip, or has anyone ever done it before? Thank you for your help.
