I am a V8 newcomer and I am very happy about this forum and how much I like to be helped here. Great!
Now to my problem: I bought my V8 3.6 from private (4,000 €). After about a week I had a capital damage to the automatic transmission. There was simply no more gear and there was a loud grinding noise as soon as the engine was running. The gearbox has now been replaced in an Audi workshop after ZF took more than 6 weeks to deliver one. When I picked up the car and wanted to drive home, no gear went in on D again, but at least without the grinding noise. A little bit more gas, and the gearbox jumped into the emergency run program. I found out that I can normally drive when I switch to 1 to start. As soon as I reach about 15 km/h I can set the gearbox to D and it runs normally. Of course, I went back to the workshop and described the problem. There was then connected the diagnostic device which indicated an error. (Unfortunately I don't know the code anymore, sry.) The error code knows about a sensor that probably tells the ECU the current speed. According to the mechanic in the workshop, there are 2 different sensors, one with 300 ohms and one with 1200 ohms. The old gearbox had the 300 ohms and the replacement gearbox had the 1200 ohms. Next week I have an appointment in the workshop. Until then, people in the workshop try to get more information from ZF.
Since here are some very expert forum members the following question: Are other causes for the behaviour of the gearbox conceivable and if so, which one?
Btw..: I live in Fürth and would be very happy if someone could call me a good V8 workshop here in the area. It would also be very nice if someone would like to contact me in order to make common trips and to simplify.
