Before everyone thinks I'm completely stupid, I'd like to say that cars don't really have a clue.
When I come from the ice cream parlour to my A8 (3.7l, BJ 1/98 D2) today, I discover to my horror that a varnish had been formed below the vehicle.
I carefully kept my finger in order to check the consistency and smell (genial move, or
).The liquid smelled neutral, so it didn't smell like oil, gasoline or anything. Then somehow thought of a flow of the cooling liquid or the air conditioning system. So I kept an eye on the temperature reading. Everything's normal.
Maybe the brake fluid? I hear this stuff sucks. I didn't feel anything on my finger.
So I ride home comfortably, with the ulterior idea that I step into the void every moment while braking. So I got home well.
Then I pressed CHECK and the diagnosis reports everything OK!
So in the garage under there car looked and see there it drips wildly further, in 2 places left and right next to the KAT (I believe
==References== on a vertical under the lever. Hood on - coolant full, brake fluid empty!
- Shouldn't the on-board engineer really sound alarm (acc. The user manual)?
So you can go out and get the brake fluid out somewhere, can't you? If it's the bluish fluid, it'll probably have run out by tomorrow. I'll do another CHECK tomorrow, see what the diagnosis reports.
- Can I just put water in the container to see where the leak is?
- Does fluid smell like anything? Oh, yes, the fluid was changed in November.
Was meint Ihr?
I don't even ask how to change the fluid.I don't trust myself as a layman without illustrative foolproof instructions anyway. Although I'd be interested in it.
Have a nice evening...
Christian
