I'm new here and I want to give you a nice story for the best.
After I was already supplied with a nice fun device over the summer, I thought a brisk device for the winter would be not bad.
The condition was: All-wheel, Power,Handshift, V8 (never had an 8-cylinder) logical consequence : Audi 100 Avant S4 4.2l.
A bit of autoscout here, a little bit of mobile there, already a vehicle was arranged. Contact with the seller who described all known defects on the phone (handbrake bad effect, dents here and there, battery is sucked out with longer service life, no Tüv,
no checkbook, unknown mileage, valve lighting defective, no original keys available, only winter tyres and the still worn out, so a real slurry stop).
Nevertheless, the price was hot and with 26 years of hobby screwdriver experience (but not Audi V8) everything was no problem, have time and the diesel car is always ready for use, so that gradually the car can be put back into a reasonable condition.
So my buddy invited and thundered 450km towards Frankfurt. Once at the seller, the car presented itself as described. Ergo test drive, reasonable tires raised (we had already taken with us in wise foresight), oil filled up, short mark on it, paid and left to Bavaria
.The car ran really well, until after approx. 280km (at 230km/h on the left lane)
) a warning sound sounded and the cooling water control began to flash wildly
. So right out (happily there was a parking lot) and bonnet on. When the smoke was lightened, we could see that cooling water is pushed out of the water level detector at the bottom of the balancing tank. After a few unsuccessful attempts with cooling and filling up the balance tank, we had to call the ADAC, which then towed us into the next Audi factory saddle. There was a diagnosis of defective water pump (orginal tone of the mechanic after pulling the return line: the pump back like an 85-year-old prostate patient
) and there the full program would have to be pulled through (new water pump, timing belts, tension rollers etc.==References== 1000€
).The decision was to leave the car and pick it up with trailer on the weekend.
After we had done the last weekend, I only pulled out the oil measuring rod and to my surprise found: Oil level on min
, after 280km !!. But the car didn't bloat (my buddy went after him all the time if he could
)Now we stand before the decision: slaughter or repair. Was würdet Ihr tun?
Best regards from Augsburg
