Hello, everybody.

I am pleased to have found an obviously competent forum on the web :)

But now to my real problem.
Background:
I'm currently in the USA for a year and I got a '98 A8 4.2 quattro here... 80 k miles ( 130 000 km)
I checked in with an Audi dealer before... as far as cosmetic little things are concerned... But they didn't check ATF!

Then I went to the service in a free workshop. But I already noticed a noise at the cold start (difficult to describe, mixture of whistles and metallic grinding) but disappeared after a few seconds and never appeared with warm engine.

After the service in the free workshop I drove about 1000 km. There they replenished ATF (it was a little "low"). They also said they had Audi experience (doesn't know if the procedure is different from that of other Audi drivers)
Now after a somewhat longer trip, the noise at the cold start has become much louder and I also mean a slight whistle during driving was to take. But still takes off after the engine has run a bit (1-2 minutes).
In the beginning I thought the starter was a bit o.a., after I read a little bit here I fear worse....
When switching I have no problems so far ... always turned clean. The only thing I noticed, but because of the lack of A8 experience, can't say if it's normal, is that it's sensitive in high gear at low speed between 4. and 5. Gang changes... Personally, however, I would not attach any striking importance to this.

I'm not completely uninformed about cars, but I have absolutely no experience with automatic transmissions ...
Would I be happy about one or the other competent Antowrt ....

If someone needs some input, just ask :-)

Thank you very much
Greetings from upstate NY

soweit richtig ?

Florian

Also wahrscheinlich doch kein Getriebe ...

Gruss
