Klammheimlich, quiet and quiet yesterday my 20V (exceptionally without me driving) exceeded the 250,000km mark - relatively exactly two years and 50tkm, after I used it for everyday operation instead of my V8 the first time. What were those two years?
There was the idea - I already have the box almost three years, but for half a year there was only a zoff with the insurance, because the predecessor had hit it over the ear. They were supposed to wait. Oh yes, but the idea: I met Tim Rose with his MTM 20V in Munich at Easter 2003. I've already had my second. V8 4.2 possessing I was back and forth from the part - just something completely different. That's what I wanted to have... It's pretty, it's like shooting a 200, turning around a little bit, and the ground-air rocket is ready. Erhem, Räusper, all those who have had the same thought may just laugh out loud - rightly, how quickly it should turn out.
So I'm used to expensive repertures - clear, expensive, expensive, expensive, Audi V8. I'm used to annoying repertures. Exotic problems - actually, too. There I was really gone when I got this slaughter-ready part TÜV-ready for no 500th-EU. I wasn't used to it. Still a few hundred and a few sweaty hours later even the climate and the instrument of the cluster were working again.
I still don't know if I should say "good buy" or "bad buy", "is just like that with old cars, especially. such" or "that was the worst grotto I could find." In any case, I bought it very cheaply, so cheap that I didn't even care about the "bite flying rust on the brakes". And in any case so cheap that I kept it for far too long to jump off the 20V idea without any economic total damage. But what I also know is that despite five Audis and four years of V8 driving, I have never invested as much money in a single vehicle as in this case. And that wasn't Lerchalsha - no, it was the 9-fold sum of the purchase price  ... Yeah, that's how it works.
But what we have not experienced! My first accident, my last accident, my first gear expansion, my last gear expansion, my first climate re-fill, my last climate re-fill... and where we were not everywhere! Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Norway ... who we haven't met all: Michael, Sascha, Rainer, Thomas, Jens, Tim, Wolfgang, Werner, Gregor - and so many others who have always pulled us out of the dirt, made Karre quick again or just made a lot of fun ...
... and what did not happen when it could be least needed (in half chronological order): the windscreen wiper, the pressure storage, the climate, the roof sky, the brakes anyway, the pressure sensor, the axle cuff, the belt from the alternator, the alternator, the wheel bearings, the shock absorbers, the rubbers, the one headlight, the clutch, the flywheel, the transmission (all separately ...), the fan, the air valve, the temperature valve, the steering stick lever, the spray pump, the temperature sensor, the spray pump pipe, since oh yes, the bumper, the other headlight, the fender
, the driver door opening inside, the horn, the horn again, the combi, the fuel pump, the starter, the brake calipers, the hand brake ... I'm gonna stop
The only thing that's really never let me down is that engine -- that indestructible thing there. Provided the sensors are working. The car can burn all around, the engine makes - somehow. You might think the whole car is falling apart, but the engine... There's nothing to beat, there's nothing to sweat, there's no oil to burn, there's nothing to beat. It's running and running and running. There you bang with Karacho in the oncoming traffic - the rub does not even die off. The front looks like a bomb attack, but the machine's running. As if he didn't need water, he wouldn't need oil, the main thing is air to compress
Really, hat off. Then I wanted to sell it, too - what does it mean? Every time he relieved me again by a thousand, I just wanted to kick him in the ton. But when he finally cost me two tickets like that, the urge was suddenly gone. I don't know, did I resign, surrender? Did I agree that every vacation with the car either before or after just double the holiday? But now I don't want to give him up, no way.
Not that he's suddenly better off than he used to be, quite the opposite. Never before was the paint so matt, the dents so big, the slices so dirty. Not that he suddenly has no more defects, iewo. He'll ruin me again next year for a while. But maybe it's the finally soft suspension. Maybe it's the view of my beautiful 17" BBS rims without it hitting me off the cross. Maybe it's the nebula light pole that's so much needed to make a 20V look like I really like it. Maybe it's the fact that I can finally switch without fear (he goes in, doesn't go in?). Maybe the prospect that I have 50tkm later also something different than the original software in it or with the obligatory 300tkm "engine overtake" nails with (processed) heads. Maybe I'll get out of the two-year-old gulf of the family longingly after my 16-year-old 20V. Maybe it's the many things I'm already on the back bench -- um, well, we're gonna finish.
It was beautiful two years, it was hateful two years, it was two years full of confidence (that's still and then it's quiet ...), it was two years full of regret, it was two years full of envious eyes on automatic, eight cylinders and Conolly leather, it was two years full of insane grimaces when in the 2. The 2000upm was crossed and the 5-cylinder drumming with the hiss suddenly justified everything. It was in any case two years and 50,000km, which I do not want to miss and in which really something happened

In this sense, I wish everyone a good ride with the ground-air rocket and myself in the future, that I can write something like this again in two years and 50tkm later - maybe then already with the chip
