Hi, Just bought a 88-89 3.6 v8 with 204.000 on the clock. Its got no servicebook though and I am concerned about when the belt was last replaced. Problem is I live in Gibraltar and here the mechanic I have used just to pass the car through RWC/MOT has turned out to be my worst nightmare. I need a good mechanic. Would someone be able to refer me to a decent place in southern spain, somewhere between Algeciras- Malaga (perhaps a far fetched question...) ? And how much should I expect to pay for a replacement? Also, I have several other problems with the car, for instance a humming fuelpump, is this normal?
Sorry dude as I live in Germany I cant help you out with a decent mechanic in your area. As for the fuel pump they howl for a while before they completely pack up, long term though you are going to have to repace it.
