I have a 91 V8Q w/ a 5 spd. The engine idle is inconsistent - it seems to 'hunt' for proper idle speed and will stall on occaision. It used to shut down while running at speed. This has not occured in a while. I did have two breather hoses replaced recently which made a difference. Spark plugs, wires and rotor caps are near new. Idle Stabilizer Valve is also new. Any thoughts?
Have you had the lambda probe (oxygen sensor) in the exhaust checked / replaced. This is a relatively inexpensive part but can cause constant engine management problems when its faulty.
With regard to the above, and in general, it really pays to get the car run on a Bosche engine analyser (or similar). These systems plug into the cars loom and can monitor several sensors at once. Most decent independant garages can offer this type of service - or look up under Bosche in your local commercial phone books.
There is a third crankcase hose, did you replace that? Another item to check is the fuel pressure regulator. This is a relatively inexpensive part and something you can change yourself.
