Hello

I drive an 1991 4.2 V8.
When i did buy the car in switzerland it did stop after a few minutes , so i drive it back to France on my trailor .Then I did change G28 and G4 , very sexy to change because of the lot of room..I drive since 2 years without problems.
The motor start and run OK without problem when cold.
But now ; the weather is hot in France( 30 °C outside) and the motor dont start when hot. When it start it run OK.

So I must leave the car and come back a couple of hour after, then it starts.
I checked the Motronic, i have 2113 default Code ( Hall Sender).

Is well known this problem ? And do you think it is really the G40 ?No other idea ?
What is the time of life of G28 and G4 near the pipe tubing and the extra hot temperature of the ABH ?
Thanks

Hi,

just for curiosity: Is your V8 the one in the attachment? Next time say hello three weeks earlier, that was the time when I was in Arles (or was it Avignon?) and drove by it... wondering why the hell it was standing around. First thought: Ignition point sensor. As usual.

And your problem sounds as well like the ignition point sensor. Even thought it's pretty new. Yes, usually they last for longer, but I have also got some which have been broken already on built-in.

You can test it when you cool the sensor down next time it doesn't start again. You can use cold water for it. It's just a matter of temperature.

The hall sensor isn't required to start the engine. You can just plug it off and it will start when the engine is cold (at least on the 4,2, I had an early 3,6 once where it didn't work - strange).

OK the next time I will pull out the plug from the HALLSENSOR and try to start.

If the car then start: Hall sender defekt

If the cardo not start:
Then cold water on G4 and G28 sensors ,

the car start: G4 or G 28 must be changed
The cars do not start ; The question is always here
