Hi all!

i am grega from slovenia, 30 years old. i allways wanted audi v8, and i finaly found some in slovenia. It is very hard to find one in slovenia so i dont have much to choose from

Well about my V8. It was made in 1993, has 4.2 engine and 6 speed gearbox. It has only basic extras.

Engine is in good condition, but overall car is in very poor condition.

Some photos:

I had car for almost half of year now and i i have to fix quite some thinks so far:

-repair brakes (new ufos and pads)
-change dash panel
-change steering wheel
-change front blinkers and fog lamps
-repair hydraulik system because of some major leaks (wrong type of oil has been used )
-fix some engine problems: idle sped problems , lambda sonda problems

Engine runs very very nice now, use about 0,3l oil for 1000km, about 12l fuel for 1000 km. i guess that is ok ?

Car is very fast, almost as fast as my chipped audi s2. Previous owner told me, that v8 was somehow tuned, but i havent investigated that so far

Plans for future are:
-AC
-Tempomat
-Leather black seats wih memory and heating
-Bose sound system
-Respray complete car
-........

Well it is long time project so i am not in the hury with it.

Hi Grega,

a very warm welcome to our platform and congrats to the manual gearbox 4,2! Very seldom, even more in Slovenia.

I'm pretty often Styria, Leibnitz (very close to the Slovenian border). Where are you living?

Don't hesitate to bother us with questions regarding your problems. If you'd like we could also meet once and I can assist you with repairs, as far as my own knowledge and experience lasts (I'm a Tempomat (cruise control) junkie as every possible problem with that sytem yet myself, so I guess I can help a lot there).

Installing an AC if you don't have one yet is a real load of work - sincerely possible, but no Sunday evening task, I fear. BOSE is comparable easy to install, but I'd personally think twice about the leather interior 'cause the Velour version is very rare (as is the manual heat control). Which color do you have in mind?

Regards

Bastian

hi Bastian!

well i am from ljubljana, that is center of slovenia, but i have about 1 hour to gratz or klagenfurt. It will be very nice if we could meet sometimes and share our experinces

it quite strange that my v8 has allready tempomat instalation and tempomat valves installed. i check label with car equipment and original car was without tempomat. anyway i have all parts for tempomat allready ad home, all i need is to put it into car. i have some problems locating GRA ECU (Steuergerat) position, regarding to instructions it should be somwhere behind beifahrer airbag....

i would like to have v8 fully loaded with original equipment so there will be much work to do

ps.: do you know any v8 for parts?
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 18.08.2009 09:20
Hi,

yes, I am aware of a V8 for parting in Bavaria, near the Austrian border. If that's in scope, I can connect you. Besides that keep eyes open for Austrian V8 offerings - there are plenty of them for little money. What's the maximum amount of money you wanna spend?

ECU for cruise control is behind passanger airbag - correct. Bad to get there, bad to loose it, but you are experienced with the dashboard, so no problem. ECU is most probably broken, I bet somewhat. If you have the ECU from another V8, it is most probably broken also. But perhaps it works. The drop arm could also be the culprit, but it's a bit nasty to remove it with Airbag steering wheel.

well i have 3 different ECUs at home and i hope one will work.
i will try to fix that problem this weekend
so i have to take dashbord off again to do that

do you have any internet address where i could search for austiran v8 parts?
i regulary check EBAY.DE for parts but it is hard to find some parts for v8
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 18.08.2009 11:32
Hi,

www.autoscout24.at , in case you want to buy a whole V8 to part. Otherwise, stick for Ebay or "Teilemarkt" here on the platform.

Regarding the ECU: We had the situation once that we tested not one, but a couple of ECUs and _all_ were death. Sincerely I thought it's not the ECU, cause that would be a strange fortune. By accident I got a ECU from an S6 monthes later and tried just for fun - and guess what, it worked!

I know really hardly any cruise control ECU factured between 1991 and 1994 still working. Most people head on for younger ones (used until 2000 or even longer, all compatible from ALL Audi models) or changed back to one from the 3,6 V8, but this requires solding - or at least re-patching.

Keep it in mind, but check the vacuum and the switch first.

in worst case i will use ECU from my audi cabrio who has the same one. at least i know it works 100%

i dont need whole car for parts, but only some small parts.
f.g. now i search for plastic-gumi trims under doors and front bumper. as you may know, you could not bought them from audi anymore (only middle part)

@Roy F: yes that are those trims. i could buy only trims for front doors but others not
verfasst von: Roy F Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 18.08.2009 12:29
That's sadly true...

i have factory manual too (thanks to audiv8.com )

changing dash panel:

i also took instruments out to fix iluminations, temperatur display and auto check system

old armatur:

new armatur:

i also changeg steering wheel, old one was without airbag and plastic. this one is leather

rear panel was also changed (old one was vandalized with huge speakers)

right now i work on bose sound system, doors leather bose panels, wooden trim and tempomat

verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 19.08.2009 07:48
Hi,

you'll have to re-replace the rear-panel, 'cause the BOSE speakers are way larger. Use the chance to grab one with electric powered roller blind!

verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 19.08.2009 08:36
that is what i am looking for yes. but it is very expencive and rar. do you know anyone who sell it ?
for now i will have bose speakers only for front door.
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 19.08.2009 08:48
HI,

don't attach a default radio to those two BOSE speakers - it will brake them. You require a proper filter/resistor (Dietz-Adapter) for that!

Bastian
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 19.08.2009 09:19
thanks for warning. i have at home gamma CD autoradio and gama bose radio, so i will use one of those for v8
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 19.08.2009 09:20
HI,

even the "normal" gamma radio requires the adapter. I fear it's not that easy to operate the original Nokia speakers in the rear and BOSE in the front (people may correct me).

Consequencly I'd suggest you to organise the specific hardware also for the rear speakers and board before installing the system.

The pre-owner was in a suicidal mood with this breaks?

In reply to:

well it sound strange but that brakes saved car from being totaly destroyed.
let me explain some brief history of my v8:
- bought in 1993 by slovenian goverment
- until 2003 it was in goverment usage and in exelent condition (regular serviced on audi service etd.....)
- in yearit was 2004 sold to last owner who dont know what kind of car he bought and have no respect for it
he almost destroyed car, but when he broke those brakes he stop used car because new ufos are very expencive. so car wasnt in use last 4 years

Oh my God, lucky car!

Yeah, the springs fit´s the V8 really great . Which Springs you´ve obstructed. Eibach??

Well done!
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 01.12.2009 11:50
Hi!

I have upgrated my v8 with automatic clima control. It was quite hard job, but with all "stromplans" i managed to do it.
I have to use clima wiring from audi 100, because audi v8 has clima instalation integrated in main wiring, and i dont want to change it all.
So i contected audi 100 wiring to v8 instalation. Klima works great including all "secret funktions", safty functions and OBD.
I took some photos, but they are not great

Clima display and broken wood trim i got from Pizzapelle and his Quattroshop.........thanks
Anyway i get another trim panel from my friend and i will install it next weekend

Now i am waiting for next summer
verfasst von: Mario M. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 01.12.2009 01:41
Wow, how long it took to install the AC ?
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 01.12.2009 03:01
i did it in 14 days, but if i will work around a clock i could finish it in one weekend.
only instalation is a problem, other parts are like LEGO
verfasst von: Roy F Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 02.12.2009 09:35
You are cracy... but it's cool

very fine work man!
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 16.11.2011 09:09
Hi!
After quite a long time i am back to forum
I still have v8, but it is mostly in warm garage and waiting for complete overhauling. Meantime i was collecting parts and i have quite some on stock now.
I bought complte roof with "schibedach", because my v8 is without it. I always wanted "schibedach" so i will change the roof panel before complete respraying the car.

Has anyone allready changed roof panel ?

verfasst von: Mario M. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 18.11.2011 07:44
I am not sure, but i think at the Roofpanel it self at the edge must be some Spotwelds.
With a spotwelddrill you can drill them out.
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 31.01.2012 11:20
I bought "new" seats for audi v8. For a very rasonable price i bought black canolly seats, 4xheated, elctrical with memory.
Condition is very good, almost like new

The only downside was, that trip costs were higher than price for seats
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 03.02.2012 08:46
Where have you bought them?
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 03.02.2012 10:02
@Bastian Preindl: i bought them on ebay.de for less then 100e, but i have to pick them up near Frankfurt.
verfasst von: Bastian P. Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 03.02.2012 10:09
Oh my god ... that's indeed a long journey. But I appreciate it very much that you saved Connolly seats from being thrown away as this the way more exclusive interior than the common sport seats.
verfasst von: grega valjavec Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 03.02.2012 10:34
I have fitted seats in my audi v8. I have quite some problems with wirings, because my car is 1993 and without instalation for heated and electric seats. Instalation i used was from car my 1991 so i have to modify wirings .....

During work

Instalation for e-seats ready

We have to took out almost whole interior

Meanwhile i have also put the instalation for BOSE in the car

Testing bose

We have more than 10 bose speakers but i hardly found set of working ones. I have to repair them some time ....

Seats and iterior are back in the car. Elestric works exelent, memory too, only heating on one rear seat wont work. look like i have to change switch in seat or heating element.
I have also put Webasto switches in door panel, but i have not put other Webasto stuff in the car for now. It will be done some other time

I will make some better photos of interior someday
Seats are great ! Now i am looking for MAL
verfasst von: Alice Lee Re: Greetings from Slovenia - 16.06.2015 09:55
