Very interesting, not only that the DOT V8 headlights are inferior (which was true for nearly all the German cars by that time, I am told), they seem to be mechanically different, too. The Euro V8 headlights are one piece, with a very large glass that is going right round the edge into the fender, unlike the DOT ones which are comprised of two parts as I spot it from the picture.
