Having just called audi I have been told that they no longer supply original front discs and pads for the audi v8 Quattro 3.6.
Looking round the Internet it looks like I need to do a front brake overhaul.
Has anyone else in UK done this and if so what would anyone recommend I replace them with?
Or is there anywhere that sells oem discs and pads for this car?
Thanks

If you are referring to the UFO disks, the last quote I had for them in the UK, with pads, was running in excess of £500. Technically, I like the idea of the UFOs, and they are really the only option with 15" wheels. Visually, I think they look awful, so best hidden away behind the BBS or aero wheels.
I have 2 V8s running S6 HP2 front struts. They are a direct swap, but you need the 16" rims.
I was lucky. I got struts and calipers complete for £200. Struts are available without calipers for between 200 to 250 on sites like S2 forum. Hp2 calipers are available new/refurbed on ebay for about £95 each.
Alternatively, there are some mods that can be done to the existing UFO struts. This is something that I'm working on now, as an evening project. It will not be so straightforward though. My first option is to adapt the UFO struts to take HP2 calipers. But the hubs need turning down or replacing, so it's not quite a bolt on change. The hub diameter is wider than standard hubs. My second option involves porsche calipers, adaptor brackets, and possibly mercedes discs. It sounds like I'm reinventing the wheel a bit.
The s6 struts and HP2 calipers are a nice option as all of the parts are straightforward and discs/pads are readily available from numerous sources.

That price is exactly why I wasn't going to retain the UFOs. The pads are not cheap, either. When you can find them, here. Unfortunately, the UK market seems to have been quite limited wrt ufo equipped cars, and so sourcing service parts is not easy. As I mentioned, the design itself is quite intriguing, and if it were cost effective and convenient, I would have retained them on 2 of my cars.
My third V8 has UFOs still, but the calipers need a strip and refurb. And pads.

my experiences (and I have a lot of them) with the UFO brake are that way, that it is working perfectly, reliably and long lasting as long as ALL components are well maintained. For proper braking action and minimum wear of pads and discs it is absolutely required that the calipers are in well conditions - and most of them are not (my experiences). It is not only a matter of sticky pistons. Jamming slides as well are a most common cause for (excessive) wear. With proper calipers (and peripheral equipment) the brake is pretty hardwearing. So I'd say that your idea to refurbish the calipers is a good one.
I appreciate the indignation to spend so much money for the discs (and pads). But otherwise keeping your V8 in original state makes a rare car long term more valuable.
Edit: I just found the front UFO brake pads (441 698 151A) for about 30,00€ but I'm not really sure whether I'd fit that stuff into my car.

Refurbishing the calipers is desirable, but nearly impossible. A great many brake parts companies are using the American listings for the front brakes. Remember that the North American market got a G60 retrofit. So it's G60 seal kits that often turn up, despite efforts to ensure otherwise.
My black V8 may keep its UFOs, but the originality is not important, given that all three cars are renovation projects with many other compromise
To the OP, your choices are
1. Original parts. Expensive. But the UFOs do work well, and you only need fit disks and pads
2. Retrofit S6 brakes. Probably the same financial investment, give or take .
3. Modify the struts for HP2 brakes, or a brembo style setup. Also likely to be a similar price.

If you like, just let me know what you need. It is not a big deal to supply fair valued and matching parts.

Where in the UK do you haunt?
2 of my V8s are in the south, and the third languishing in Scotland awaiting work. There's a growing number of us.

I've flown in and out of there a few times. There's a good number of Audi fans in the vicinity.

How can the number of you grow since you started collecting V8 all over the UK?
