Aparently, obsolete over here.
The body shop doing the work on the silver car have successfully destroyed the rear one before even removing the glass. The front one came out with the glass.

Questions
1. Is there an alternative part?

2. Can they be reused?

Getting a replacement for my windshield here in Hungary. I was told (and I cannot vouch for the reliability here) that they are very difficult to save, so I just ordered a new one with the glass..I was also told if they dont' damage the old one, they will return my money for the trim.

I am urgently seeking a windscreen surround, or if necessary, I'll take a complete new windscreen with the trim/surround attached, for a car that is too good to scrap, but will be scrapped in the next month if i have no luck.

is the screen specific to the v8 or is it like the 200 screen?
had this problem last year, got a chip fix instead , otherwise it was going to be a 100q screen and try to refit the old chrome surround,
let me know what you do with it?

Same here in Germany. Last Time anybody was successfully ordering one of these it came from Asia...

Possibly the following kind of workaround would be suitable for you. Thomas has been reassembling his DTM using (i guess) Audi 80-style plastic trims. Check this out:

Once in a while, someone finds a random screen with the seal/trim attached, it seems. Otherwise, there's lots of promises, but little reality.
One of the guys who put a 200 rally rep together had a solution using a generic trim, which is what is on there now, so i'll have to go down that route.

Small update, and bump.

You'd not believe how many people are adamant that they have a source for these. In each event, going through the motions while they make loads of calls, only to come up with nothing.

Anyway. Window seal from VW transporter might give a reasonable, if not original, finish.

The only stumbling block being the thickness of a laminated screen, and whether this trim would stay in place.

Sort of a bump, to see if anyone has made any progress.

My blue V8 is in the body shop, about a week from getting the windscreen back in.
Before I use the T4 trim, I want to exhaust all other possible options.
