Hi! My friend has the big problem with his -92 v8.
No spark,
- hall-sender on right side distributor has been changed, still no spark.
-door lock microswitch ok
Does anybody have a tip to fix this problem?
Maybe the ignition timing sensor should be change next,
VAG-com says the (G4) sensor fault, I think its just a timing sensor.
But is it possible that VAG-com says (G4) fault because we cant start the engine?
Hope somebody can help, because he want to drive V8, not only repair it! :-)

Hi,

you are right, the flywheel sensor is always saved as permanent error if the engine doesn't run. I can't recognize if it's the G4, but I think so.

It is definetely a very good idea to exchange the ignition point sensor (which is located next to the flywheel sensor). It is one of the most common errors.

a quite unusual but nevertheless already happened problem is that the ignition point indicator brakes apart from the flywheel. This is a very undelicisious situation as the exhausting system must be removed and the gearbox at least lowered some way to exchange the flywheel... there are rumours about a workaround using a backup-indicator but I've had to do all this without that workaround. It's very seldom but already happened to me.

But normally it's in the fault memory then (somethink like "inplausible signal").

Timing sensor has different resistance than the engine rpm sensor.
Must buy new, after that more information...
-buy the way, removing of these sensors is very funny job...

it usually ist the exactly same sensor. From where do you have the information about the different resistance?

We measured the sensors, rpm sensor resistance was 1 K ohm,
but timing sensor = 0 ohm.

My friend found new one from UK but they have strike on their post-offices on this week, so they can deliver it on next week.
But better later than never..

wuoh, risky, bought something from UK a few weeks ago over Ebay, the seller left Ebay the day after the money was transferred and is lost. The money too

Nevertheless: The both sensors are definetly the same parts. If you measure different resistances, then you probably have already found the error

Buy the way, I´d like to buy the original 16" aluminium wheels to my V8, but its very difficult to find those from Finland.
Maybe somebody can help me...?
