I´m about to do this operation http://www.audiv8.com/german/faq/faq_show.php?id=201 on my ABH-engine. But it´s very little space there for my hands at least. Must I take away the exhaustpipe(downpipe) from the engine to get enough clearance? Please give me a tip...I´m on a holyday trip and 600 km from home.

nope, you don't have to take away the exhaustpipe. Perhaps a translation helps:

Drive out the both 6mm-bolts (10mm nut) and remove the sheetplate. Now detach the both connectors. Some say that the best way to reach it is from the other side of the transverse control arm/wishbone (Querlenker), but it relies on your own feeling.

The next steps should be easy...

Where are you actually? Somewhere in Europe? Perhaps somebody is able to help you...

Ok, well it´s how to reach those nuts holding the shield that I find difficult. But I don´t have the right tool maby. A 90 degree leaded(?) nutdriver should be the best I think. Those pipes to the oilcooler is not easy to bypass. I´m in Karlstad, Sweden, right now. I will give it another try tomorrow again. Thanks for a quick reply!

try to get in Kontakt with Wolfgang B. , he stays in Uddevalla, not so far away from Karlstad (about 175km, only a small jump from Northern Germany )
Maybe he's able to give you support, or he knows a mechanic.

I've also asked Google Maps already for the distance ... hehe, funny. I've tried to ask Chris W. thru Thomas M. if he knows a mechanic 'cause he also is (sometimes) situated in Karlstad. All the other Skandinavian people seem to be farther away...

Yes! Now it´s alive again. I had to remove the oilpipes between the gearbox and the oilcooler, on my car the pipes are located differently than on the picture here in the FAQ. And the cableconnectors could not be placed worse
But I want to thank you for all support. This is a great forum. And I love my V8!
